Prime Minister Netanyahu and Opposition Leader Lapid to Meet Tonight for Security Briefing
Prime Minister Netanyahu and Opposition Leader Lapid will meet Tuesday night for a security briefing concerning potential election disruptions.
Jerusalem, 29 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Opposition Leader Yair Lapid are scheduled to meet Tuesday night for a security briefing, following Netanyahu’s warning that Israel’s enemies may attempt to attack ahead of the October 27 election.
Lapid requested an urgent update after Netanyahu made the warning during a visit to the Tel Nof Air Force Base.
Lapid said he wanted to determine whether the threat was genuine and, if so, how the government intends to ensure the election proceeds without disruption. Netanyahu’s office initially said his military secretary would brief Lapid, noting that the two had recently met for a security briefing on September 14.
Lapid subsequently insisted on a direct meeting, calling for a four-way discussion involving Netanyahu, himself, the Shin Bet chief and the chairman of the Central Elections Committee.
