Jerusalem, 11 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Defense Minister Israel Katz on Sunday accused opposition leader Gadi Eisenkot of seeking to return Israel to the security policy that preceded the October 7, 2023, Hamas massacre, warning that his approach would leave northern Israeli communities exposed to terrorist threats.
Katz criticized Eisenkot’s reported opposition to maintaining IDF security zones in Lebanon and on Mount Hermon, arguing that these positions would undermine protection for northern residents. Katz said security zones in Syria, Gaza, Lebanon, and northern Samaria refugee camps are central to the new security doctrine pursued by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the defense establishment.
“Terrorism pays a price on the ground and through its infrastructure, and there are no more withdrawals,” Katz declared.
He also criticized Yair Golan over opposition to Israeli operations against Iran, calling the former general’s approach outdated and dangerous.
