Jerusalem, 31 August, 2026 (TPS-IL) — An inter-ministerial delegation is currently in Cambodia working to recruit agricultural workers for Israel. The delegation, which includes representatives from the Population and Immigration Authority, the Agriculture Ministry, the Farmers’ Association, private chambers and the Simi association, is working together to build a rigorous screening and filtering process aimed at ensuring the recruitment of professional, suitable workers for Israel’s agricultural sector.

As part of the process, all candidates are required to undergo a preliminary screening that includes a computerized test and a physical test.

Approximately 50,000 Foreign Workers currently work in Israel’s agricultural sector, with 90% coming from Thailand and the rest from various countries, including Sri Lanka and India. The Population and Immigration Authority is preparing to recruit approximately 20,000 agricultural workers under bilateral agreements in 2027.
