Restoration Work Begins on Ein Junis Spring Complex in Yarmouk Valley
Restoration work has commenced at the Ein Junis spring complex in the Yarmouk Valley, funded by a 2 million shekel investment to secure the site.
Jerusalem, 31 August, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Infrastructure works began Monday to secure the safety of the Ein Junis spring complex, located in the Yarmouk Valley within the Emek HaYarden Regional Council, after parts of its walls collapsed over the years, leading to its declaration as a hazardous structure.
The safety and structural reinforcement project, funded with an investment of 2 million shekels ($588,000) from the Israel Land Authority’s Open Areas Protection Fund, will be carried out by the Kinneret Drainage and Streams Authority. Work will include reinforcing the building’s walls and windows and stabilizing walls at risk of collapse.
As part of preparations, gravel on the pool floors will be replaced with clean river stones, allowing work to continue without interrupting the spring’s flow. The project is Expected to last approximately four months, during which the site will be closed to visitors before reopening free of charge.
