Joint statement from theand the Shin Bet Spokesperson: Security forces have launched an operation to thwart terrorism in the city of Hebron. IDF, Shin Bet, Judea and Samaria Border Police, and the Judea Regional Brigade Command, under the command of the Judea Brigade, have launched an operation to thwart terrorism in the Hebron area, from which the two terrorists who were eliminated in the encounter that resulted in the deaths of two IDF soldiers and injuries to others earlier today (Friday) departed. The forces are now beginning a focused and thorough search of all infrastructure in the area to locate and neutralize terrorist infrastructure and weaponry, and to interrogate dozens of suspects. The operation is focused and confined to the area from which the terrorists operated and is expected to last several days. From the start of the operation, residents living in the area of the forces’ activity will be able to exit the area through three designated points after interrogation and inspection. Any person who raises suspicion during inspection will be transferred for interrogation by security forces. The operation is a direct continuation of a series of offensive operations to thwart terrorism that have been undertaken since this morning, including: mapping the terrorists’ homes, a cordon in the Hebron and Halhoul area, roadblocks, and thwarting activities in villages in the sector. In addition to the effort to shape the area, during which illegal infrastructure that could pose a security risk in the encounter area is being removed. Security forces are currently operating at dozens of targets to thwart terrorism along the entire Judea and Samaria sector, and will continue to operate offensively and proactively to defend, thwart terrorism, and remove threats to the citizens of the State of Israel.
