Jerusalem, 20 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — An Israeli precision airstrike in Gaza City eliminated Akram Bassam Sha’aban Yassin, a senior official in Hamas’s General Security Mechanism (GSM), the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) and Israel Security Agency (Israel’s anti-terror General Security Service) confirmed Tuesday.
Military officials stated Yassin actively directed attacks against troops and civilians while working to rebuild military infrastructure in violation of operational agreements.
The covert GSM apparatus is responsible for protecting top Hamas leadership, managing emergency transport, and gathering operational intelligence on Israeli forces.
Yassin’s elimination follows a similar joint targeted operation four months ago, forming part of an ongoing strategy to degrade Hamas’s command-and-control capabilities.
