Jerusalem, 21 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israeli security forces on Wednesday stopped an unauthorized olive harvest near Beitar Illit, in the Gush Etzion area of Judea and Samaria, after several Palestinian harvesters arrived accompanied by dozens of people, the Israel Defense Forces said.
The harvest requires advance coordination with the relevant authorities before work begins, to protect regional security and maintain public order. Given the security risks of an uncoordinated gathering near an Israeli community, IDF troops, Border Police forces, and Israel Police officers arrived and detained those present.
The landowner was instructed to coordinate future harvesting and given contact information to arrange approval.
The IDF emphasized that authorized olive harvesting continues across Judea and Samaria. Approximately 100 coordinated harvests have taken place so far, yielding dozens of tons of olives under security-force supervision without unusual incidents.
