Jerusalem, 28 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The IDF eliminated Shadi Abu Hatsira, a senior money changer in Hamas’s military wing, in an airstrike in the Gaza City area on Sunday, the military announced Monday.
Abu Hatsira headed the “Geneva” money-exchange network, which transferred tens of millions of shekels in foreign funds to Hamas’s military wing. According to the IDF, the money was used to pay terrorists, rebuild military infrastructure and advance attacks against Israeli Forces.
He also operated in Gaza’s commercial sector and managed the Gardenia Professional company, which facilitated his money transfers.
The IDF said Abu Hatsira had recently advanced terror plots against Israeli troops and civilians while working to restore Hamas’s military capabilities, in what it called a systematic violation of the ceasefire. The military said the strike, carried out from the air, was meant to remove the threat he posed.
Israeli media described the killing as part of ongoing targeted strikes, calling Abu Hatsira another leading Hamas money changer to be eliminated. The IDF said it is continuing to concentrate its efforts on Hamas’s funding capabilities to prevent the group from rebuilding its infrastructure and military strength.
Four Palestinian terrorists were killed and at least nine others wounded on Sunday in Israeli attacks on Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
Southern Command troops, deployed in the area in accordance with the ceasefire agreement, will continue to act to remove any immediate threats, the military said.
