Jerusalem, 14 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir ordered the deployment of the 98th Division to Judea and Samaria, amid growing security alerts and concerns about a possible escalation.
Zamir conducted a situational assessment Wednesday at Central Command, where he approved operational plans and reviewed preparations with senior military commanders and representatives of the Shin Bet and Border Police.
“In light of the increased number of alerts across all fronts and the sensitivity of this period, the potential for escalation has grown,” Zamir said. He stressed that the IDF had raised its readiness and was preparing for potential surprise attacks.
The military is prepared to launch broader offensive operations against any threat to Israeli civilians. Zamir also pledged to protect security and public order during the olive harvest season.
