Jerusalem, 5 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir on Sunday marked the third anniversary of October 7 by remembering the civilians, soldiers, security personnel and first responders killed in the Hamas attack.

He acknowledged that the IDF “failed in its supreme mission” to protect Israeli citizens, describing how fields, orchards, communities and family homes became scenes of fighting, massacres and abductions.

Zamir praised the courage of soldiers, reservists and Israeli society, saying the nation united to defend its homeland and restore security. He stressed the IDF’s responsibility to investigate October 7 and ensure its lessons are implemented.

Zamir said the military has since fought on multiple fronts, struck enemy capabilities and rescued hostages. He vowed that the IDF would continue strengthening its forces, confronting emerging threats and ensuring that Israelis can live securely in their homeland.
