Jerusalem, 7 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security and the Wine Grapes Board reported that 1,091,788 grapevines were planted nationwide in 2025, an 8% increase over 2024, offering a preview of future domestic wine offerings.
Cabernet Sauvignon remained dominant, accounting for roughly 20% of new plantings with nearly 220,000 vines, followed by Shiraz and Petit Verdot among reds. Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay led white varieties.
The data also showed growing interest in Mediterranean and niche grapes, including Grenache Noir, Cabernet Franc, and Assyrtiko — a climate-resilient Greek variety — reflecting shifting consumer tastes and climate adaptation strategies among Israeli winegrowers.
