Jerusalem, 20 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Jerusalem District Police have completed operational Preparations for Yom Kippur, deploying reinforced police and Border Police forces across the city since early morning.
District Commander Brig. Gen. Avshalom Peled conducted an inspection tour, describing the deployed forces as “the protective shield of Jerusalem.” Security efforts are focused on holy sites and routes used by worshippers.
Major traffic arteries around the Old City, including Jaffa Gate, the Moroccan Gate, and New Gate, will be closed, along with routes in the city’s north and south.
Police urged drivers to exercise caution for pedestrian safety and asked the public to report any suspicious activity by calling the police hotline.
