Health Ministry Reports Additional Suspected Ebola Case After Congo Travel
A suspected Ebola case is under isolation in Israel after a traveler returned from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Lab results are pending.
Jerusalem, 31 August, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Health Ministry reported receiving notification of an additional individual suspected of having Ebola after returning from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The individual, who returned to Israel several days ago, sought medical attention after developing a fever and additional symptoms.
At this stage, the case remains suspected only, and necessary laboratory testing is underway, with results expected in the coming days. The patient will be treated under isolation conditions in accordance with protocols for handling high-risk infectious diseases and will be transferred to Ichilov Medical Center, one of the facilities designated to receive such suspected cases.
The Health Ministry is conducting an epidemiological investigation to trace relevant contacts. Individuals not directly contacted by the ministry are not required to take any action at this time.
