Jerusalem, 29 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — An Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) soldier has been formally indicted on severe treason charges after providing classified military intelligence to Iranian operatives for over a year, Israeli security agencies announced Thursday.
A joint investigation by the Shin Bet (Israel’s anti-terror General Security Service), Israel Police, and Military Police revealed the suspect knowingly collaborated with an Iranian handler in exchange for cryptocurrency payments.
The soldier transmitted critical data regarding troop readiness, military base coordinates, and unit mobilizations during the ” Lion’s Roar” war.
He also provided photographs of air defense interceptors, military vehicles, and U.S. refueling aircraft stationed at an Israeli airfield, alongside contact information for commanders and fellow soldiers to assist further recruitment efforts.
The handler provided malicious communication tools, devised cover stories, and ultimately offered $200,000 for the soldier to defect to Iran.
The military court extended his detention through November 12, 2026.
