Jerusalem, 25 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Acre Municipality and renewable energy company Enlight (via Enlight Local) are establishing a joint energy directorate to transform green energy into an economic and environmental growth engine for the city.
The initiative aims to optimize energy management, enhance efficiency, and reduce electricity costs across municipal operations. The joint directorate will oversee the installation of renewable energy and energy storage facilities on public properties, including schools and sports complexes. The venture is projected to supply an estimated 11 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of green electricity annually.
This partnership represents a major milestone in Acre’s strategic transition to sustainability, advancing the municipality’s goal of achieving net-zero energy buildings. By localizing clean energy production, Acre expects to generate substantial financial savings while contributing to national climate targets and building long-term urban resilience.
