Israel Ranks Fourth Worldwide in Lending to Foreign Economies
Israel ranks fourth worldwide in net lending to foreign economies with $212.5 billion in net foreign assets, according to World Population Review.
Jerusalem, 2 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel ranks fourth worldwide in net lending to foreign economies, with an estimated $212.5 billion in net foreign assets, according to the World Population Review.
The ranking places Israel behind Saudi Arabia, which leads with approximately $785 billion, followed by the Netherlands with $624 billion and Belgium with $340 billion.
Israel’s position reflects the country’s accumulated external assets compared with its foreign liabilities and highlights the scale of Israeli investments and financial holdings abroad.
The figures include assets held by Israeli residents, companies, financial institutions, and other entities outside the country, alongside corresponding obligations to foreign investors.
Israel’s substantial external position has developed over years of current-account surpluses, foreign investment, and the accumulation of financial assets overseas. The ranking offers a broader picture of Israel’s financial relationship with the global economy, beyond its domestic economic output, and places the country among a relatively small group of major net lenders internationally.
