Jerusalem, 8 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel recorded a 12.6% decline in cigarette import volumes in September 2026 compared to September 2025, according to official trade data. Despite the drop in physical volume, the import value in U.S. dollars surged by 13.5%, driven primarily by currency exchange rate fluctuations.
A similar disparity marked the January–September 2026 period: while cigarette import volumes fell by 1.1% year-over-year, overall import value rose 19.1%.
Meanwhile, the import value of other tobacco products—encompassing hookah tobacco, cigars, pipe and smoking tobacco, and heated tobacco units—decreased by 4.6% in September 2026 compared to the same month last year. Total import value for all goods reached $9.7 Billion in September.
