Israels FM Saar Accuses Turkish FM of Spreading Lies and Blood Libels Against Israel
Israeli FM Gideon Sa'ar accuses Turkish FM Hakan Fidan of spreading "lies and blood libels," alleging Turkey supports Hamas and engages in domestic repression.
Jerusalem, 31 August, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar took to social media to accuse Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan of continuing, “in the service of President [Recep Tayyip] Erdoğan, to spread lies and blood libels against Israel.”
Sa’ar said Turkey hosts and supports Hamas, which he said carried out a “genocidal massacre” against Israelis on October 7. He further accused Erdoğan’s government of invading other countries, suppressing and imprisoning opposition leaders, and arresting judges and journalists, citing the arrest of an additional journalist that day.
Sa’ar said Turkey was resorting to “the oldest trick in the antisemitic playbook: making false accusations against Jews and the Jewish state” to divert attention from these actions.
