Jerusalem, 11 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Brig. Gen. Yogev Bar-Sheshet, IDF Deputy Defense Comptroller, will retire amid allegations that he misused his authority.

According to Israeli media, the case involves suspicions of a conflict of interest, exceeding his authority, and abusing the power of his position. The investigation reportedly began after a written complaint by a major serving in the military, prompting an inquiry by the Military Police Criminal Investigation Division.

Investigators also examined concerns involving information security and conduct unbecoming of an officer of his rank. The military prosecution has decided to conduct an in-depth command review following the investigation.

Bar-Sheshet, a senior officer who was wounded during fighting in Gaza in May 2024, has not been reported as criminally convicted. The circumstances surrounding his retirement remain under review.
