Crime

Jerusalem, 10 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — During an operation by Central District police Wednesday, officers uncovered a weapons cache in a Ramla compound. In addition to a LAW rocket suspected of being stolen from the Israel Defense Forces, police seized four handguns and four fragmentation grenades.

Hisham Al-Shaer, 28, was arrested and investigated on suspicion of illegally possessing the weapons. On Thursday, police asked a court to extend his detention by nine days, citing the seriousness of the offenses, potential danger, and concern that he could obstruct the investigation.

Al-Shaer denied any connection to the rocket. “I have no idea about what they seized. I’m still in shock,” he said. “It’s the first time I’ve ever seen anything like this, and I was frightened.” He said authorities could act if forensic evidence linked him to the weapons, but maintained he had nothing to do with the rocket.
