Jerusalem Police Arrest Three Minors Following Violent Clashes in Mea Shearim
Jerusalem police arrested three minors in Mea She’arim on suspicion of stone-throwing during an operation to remove Palestinian flags and graffiti.
Jerusalem, 5 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — JERUSALEM — Jerusalem police arrested three Israeli minors on suspicion of stone-throwing and disturbing public order in the ultra-Orthodox neighborhood of Mea She’arim, authorities confirmed.
The detentions occurred during a targeted law enforcement operation aimed at removing Palestinian flags and erasing hostile graffiti from public buildings, possibly posted in protest against the drafting of ultra-orthodox into the military.
As security forces began withdrawing, an undercover unit deployed on-site apprehended a suspect who threw a stone at officers. A crowd of rioters subsequently confronted a female police officer, triggering a swift intervention that resulted in the arrest of two additional 16-year-old suspects.
All three individuals were transferred for interrogation at a local precinct as law enforcement continues efforts to identify additional perpetrators.
