Jerusalem, 6 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — HAIFA — Israeli law enforcement officers have arrested a suspect for allegedly concealing tens of millions of dollars in digital currency trading profits, authorities announced Tuesday in a joint statement.
A coordinated operation between the Tax Authority and the Lahav 433 major crimes unit revealed the individual traded extensively across crypto exchanges without declaring earnings, evaded tax obligations, and operated undisclosed foreign bank accounts. Investigators suspect third-party bank accounts and straw ownership of assets—including a luxury vehicle and large sums of foreign currency seized during searches—were used to launder illicit proceeds.
The Haifa Magistrate’s Court extended the suspect’s detention until October 11, 2026, as joint financial investigations continue.
