Israeli Authorities Seize 76,800 Eggs With Suspected Counterfeit Stamps

Jerusalem, 24 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israeli authorities confiscated some 76,800 Palestinian eggs suspected of bearing counterfeit Israeli inspection stamps in one of the largest egg interceptions in years, the Agriculture Ministry said on Thursday.

Ministry inspectors stopped a truck carrying eight pallets of eggs at a checkpoint on the southern outskirts of Jerusalem after it entered from the Palestinian Authority without an import permit.

The 2,560 trays of eggs bore stamps naming Israeli marketers and sorting stations, which investigators suspect were fake.

The eggs were destroyed over public health concerns.
