Jerusalem, 9 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — IDF forces arrested three Palestinian police officers this week for allegedly setting up a roadblock in Area C near Beitunia in Samaria, stopping and assaulting an Israeli civilian despite lacking authority to operate there, the IDF Spokesperson reported on Wednesday.

The officers are being questioned by Israeli security forces.

The security establishment called the incident a serious overreach, saying the officers endangered the civilian’s life and used excessive force.

Israel Ganz, head of the Binyamin Regional Council and chairman of the Yesha Council, praised the arrests.

“I commend the IDF and security forces for arresting the Palestinian police officers who abducted and assaulted a Binyamin resident,” he said, adding, “A sovereign state cannot stand by when an armed force exceeds its authority and harms its citizen.”
