68% of Israelis See Turkey as a Dangerous Threat to National Security
A JCFA survey shows 68% of Israelis, particularly Jewish Israelis (77%), consider Turkey a dangerous security threat, with many supporting military action in.
Jerusalem, 9 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — According to a new Jerusalem Center for Foreign and Security Affairs (JCFA) survey published Wednesday, 68% of Israelis and 77% of Jewish Israelis view Turkey as a dangerous security threat to Israel. Sixty percent support military action to prevent Turkey from establishing bases and infrastructure in Syria, while 70% favor setting red lines for Ankara and working with the United States to restrain it.
Conducted by Lazar Research from September 2–4 among 703 Jewish and Arab respondents aged 18 and older, the survey found that Israelis increasingly see Turkey as a tangible security threat, particularly over its potential military entrenchment in Syria near Israel’s borders.
Yet Turkey ranked relatively low among threats facing the next government, scoring 2.8 out of 6, behind Iran, Hamas, and other threats.
