Crane Truck Seized Over Illegal Sukkah-Related Construction
Israeli authorities seized a crane truck for 30 days after discovering unauthorized balcony construction for a sukkah in a nighttime operation.
Jerusalem, 4 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israeli authorities seized a crane truck during a nighttime operation after inspectors discovered unauthorized construction of a balcony intended to serve as a sukkah Ahead of the Sukkot holiday, the Land Enforcement Authority said on Sunday.
Inspectors stopped the work and seized the truck for 30 days as part of intensified enforcement against construction carried out without the required permits. Officials did not specify where the incident occurred.
The Authority said its enforcement campaign includes warnings to contractors, suppliers and locksmiths, as well as proactive inspections.
Officials stressed that the measures are not directed at temporary sukkah huts used to observe the holiday, but at permanent balconies, structures and additions that require permits and could pose safety risks.
The week-long holiday of Sukkot ended on Saturday night.
