Jerusalem, 24 August, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Religious Services Ministry and the Religious Council in Beit Shemesh reopened the historic “Shvil HaShel” mikveh, the city’s first, following complete demolition and reconstruction from the ground up.

The project, funded through an investment of 2 million shekels ($588,000) raised in close cooperation between the Religious Council and the Committee for Family Purity, aims to provide ritual bath services at the highest halachic standard.

Officials described the reopening as part of a broader renewal effort by the Religious Council in Beit Shemesh, which they said continues to lead in expanding religious services available to the public.
