Jerusalem, 6 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Bereaved families from the “Justice and Law” and “Gvura” (Heroism) forums called on Tuesday for a national commission of inquiry into the October 7 failures, demanding that it investigate all relevant systems, including the judiciary.

Speaking from Jerusalem’s Gvura Tent, the families said the commission must examine the military, security, political and legal systems and operate independently, with broad investigative powers and sufficient resources.

They opposed a state commission whose members would be selected through the Supreme Court, saying they do not trust a process involving the court. The families proposed a national inquiry modeled on the commission that investigated the September 11 attacks in the United States.

Orly Cohen, whose son Amit was murdered at the Re’im shelter on October 7, 2023, urged voters to support candidates who commit to establishing a broadly representative national commission after the election.
