Netanyahu to Right-Wing Splinter Parties: Unite or Drop Out
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned right-wing leaders, including Ofer Winter, Moshe Feiglin, and Avi Maoz, to unite or withdraw from the 2026.
Jerusalem, 25 August, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday reiterated his warning that “only the Right can bring down the Right,” urging Ofer Winter, Moshe Feiglin and Avi Maoz to join existing parties or drop out of the 2026 election.
Speaking in Binyamin, Netanyahu said, “Anyone who fails to cross the electoral threshold will waste those votes. Anyone who does cross it will bring down existing parties.”
Israel uses nationwide proportional representation, with a 3.25% electoral threshold.
Netanyahu invoked the 1992 elections, when right-wing parties Tehiya, Moledet and Tzomet had left Yitzhak Shamir’s Likud-led government, helping bring about early elections. Tehiya and other small right-wing parties subsequently failed to cross the threshold, wasting right-wing votes and helping Yitzhak Rabin’s Labor Party return to power. Rabin’s government later signed the Oslo Accords with the Palestinians.
