Jerusalem, 26 August, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Likud election committee decided to recount votes at two polling stations in Be’er Ya’akov, near Rishon LeZion and Ness Ziona, after questions were raised about the accuracy of the initial results.
At one station, 240 valid votes were recorded, but MK Shai Sasson Guetta was listed as receiving 260 votes. The discrepancy raised questions about differences between the official protocols and the results entered into the system.
The counting error has major political implications because of the close race between Minister Gila Gamliel and MK Eti Attiya. Attiya now appears likely to pass Gamliel and take 25th place on the Likud list, while Gamliel could fall to 35th, a position unlikely to secure her a Knesset seat.
