Formulated just Ahead of the upcoming elections, the move aims to secure the funding before transitioning to a restrictive caretaker government budget.
The largest portion of the allocation is earmarked for training and preparing converts for the official conversion process. A smaller fraction, approximately NIS 3.5 million ($1.15 million), is designated for future spending in 2027 to cover specific procedures, including ritual circumcisions and Jewish lineage clarifications.
The legal authorization required for this immediate, late-addition budget transfer was finalized and provided by the Chief Legal Advisor of the State Jewish Conversion System. This fast-tracked funding ensures that state-sponsored conversion services and educational institutions remain operational regardless of the October 27 election results.
