Jerusalem, 15 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — “Habayta” (Going Home) forum, uniting bereaved families of fallen soldiers, on Tuesday sent letters to the leaders of all Knesset parties demanding they publicly state whether they intend to keep operating within the Oslo-era division of Judea and Samaria, or pursue a new policy of return to open territories.
Signatories include Eliav Libi and Yehoshua Sherman, whose sons David and Yehuda Shmuel were killed in the war.
The letter argues that three years of fighting have exposed the cost of entrenched security concepts and calls for Israeli presence across all open Judea and Samaria areas, without extending citizenship to Palestinian residents.
The bereaved families cite the wartime takeover of Mount Hermon’s summit as a bloodless precedent.
The forum said it plans to release each party leader’s response, including those who decline to answer, turning the issue into a pre-election litmus test.
