Jerusalem, 1 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The IDF (Israel Defense Forces) and Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) launched a targeted operation Tuesday to remove threats posed by Hamas in Northern Gaza. As part of the operation, Shin Bet special forces entered a structure in the Gaza City area and apprehended the head of Hamas’s Internal Security in the Gaza Strip.
During the operation, the Israeli Air Force struck several targets in the area to remove threats to the forces. No IDF injuries were reported.
The apprehended terrorist had recently worked to consolidate Hamas’s control over northern Gaza and to advance attacks against IDF troops deployed along the Yellow Line, the military said. He was transferred for further questioning by security forces inside Israel.
