Joint statement from theand the Shin Bet Spokesperson: In a joint operation by the IDF and the Shin Bet: Security forces apprehended the head of internal security for the Hamas terrorist organization in the Gaza Strip. The IDF and the Shin Bet, under the command and leadership of the Shin Bet and the Southern Command, conducted a targeted operation earlier today (Tuesday) to neutralize threats posed by the Hamas terrorist organization in the northern Gaza Strip. As part of the operation, special forces of the Shin Bet raided a structure in the Gaza City area and apprehended the head of internal security for the Hamas terrorist organization throughout the Gaza Strip. During the operation, the Air Force conducted targeted strikes on several military targets in the area to neutralize threats to the forces; there were no casualties among our forces. The apprehended terrorist has recently been working to solidify the Hamas terrorist organization’s control in the northern Strip and to advance terror plots against IDF forces operating in the area of the “Green Line.” The terrorist has been transferred for further investigation by security forces within the State of Israel. The operation is intended to neutralize threats, undermine Hamas’s control in the area, and its plans to advance terror operations against IDF forces and citizens of the State of Israel. Security forces in the Southern Command are deployed in the area according to the agreement and will continue to operate to neutralize any threat.
