Jerusalem, 1 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised Israeli security forces who apprehended the head of Hamas’s Internal Security in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday.

“I commend the Shin Bet and the IDF, who, in a daring operation today, arrested the head of Hamas’s Internal Security Mechanism near his home in Gaza,” Netanyahu said in a statement.

He described the terrorist as one of Hamas’s most senior leaders, responsible for concealing and moving hostages, hiding senior Hamas officials, force building, and attempting to rehabilitate the terror organization’s capabilities. Netanyahu said he was recently involved in efforts to restore Hamas governance in Gaza, deceptive practices regarding the Strip’s demilitarization, and assisting terrorist operations against Israeli forces and citizens.

“My directive is clear: The State of Israel will continue to pursue all Hamas leaders and everyone who took part in the October 7 massacre,” Netanyahu said.
