Israel Military Call NAZA Claims Untrue, Challenge Filmmakers to Release Full Documentary
The IDF has challenged "NAZA" filmmakers to release the full documentary, calling its claims of a planned Gaza strike with 500 civilian deaths "untrue.".
Jerusalem, 14 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) challenged the filmmakers behind the controversial documentary, “NAZA,” to provide the military with a full copy of the film.
The controversy centers partly on the British-funded film’s claim that Israel approved a Gaza strike in which up to 500 civilian deaths were anticipated.
IDF Spokesman Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin said the military has reviewed material released publicly but has not seen the full documentary. He called some of its claims “untrue” and “distorted,” and said the IDF is prepared to address them based on evidence. The military has specifically rejected the allegation that it planned a strike anticipating 500 civilian deaths.
“NAZA,” directed by Israeli filmmakers Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor, and produced by The Guardian, a British daily.received a special jury prize at the Venice Film Festival.
