IDF to Hold Large-Scale Drill in Eilat and Arava Desert
The IDF's 80th Division will hold a large-scale drill in Eilat and the Arava region, simulating surprise attacks and infiltrations to test readiness.
Jerusalem, 6 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — A large-scale security exercise led by the IDF’s 80th Division will begin Monday in the Eilat and Arava region. Increased activity by security forces, aircraft and naval vessels will be seen starting Sunday.
The exercise will simulate several scenarios, including a surprise attack and infiltrations into Israel by air, sea and land. Forces will practice defending Eilat and nearby communities while testing their readiness and air and naval capabilities.
The drill will also test cooperation between the security forces, Israel Police and Magen David Adom, as well as coordination among ground forces, the Air Force and Navy.
The exercise is part of ongoing efforts to improve readiness and apply lessons learned from recent fighting and security incidents.
