Jerusalem, 5 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — IDF troops from the Carmeli Brigade discovered three anti-tank explosive charges and two mines during operations in Southern Syria, the military said. The weapons were found Monday as forces conducted operations to clear the security area of weapons left behind by the former Syrian regime.

The IDF said the activity is part of ongoing efforts to remove weapons and other potential threats from the area and prevent them from being used against Israeli forces or communities.

The operation comes amid continued security activity along the Syrian border. In recent incidents, IDF forces identified and neutralized individuals who approached Israeli military positions in the area.

The military has continued operating in the security zone to identify and remove weapons and other threats. The latest discovery highlights the presence of weapons left in the area following the collapse of the former Syrian regime.
