Gaza Division Commander: We Established Nearly 40 New Military Outposts
Gaza Division Commander Brig. Gen. Liron Betito states the IDF controls 63% of the Gaza Strip and has established nearly 40 new military outposts.
Jerusalem, 1 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Gaza Division Commander Brig. Gen. Liron Betito said on Thursday that the IDF currently controls 63% of the Gaza Strip and has established nearly 40 new military outposts inside the territory.
In an army podcast interview, Betito said the new outposts, along with about 10 more outside the security fence, put IDF troops on the front lines to protect nearby Israeli communities.
Betito said the IDF’s current control prevents Hamas from bringing weapons and supplies into Gaza as it did in the past. The division also maintains ongoing operations to degrade Hamas’s capabilities, eliminate terrorists, locate underground infrastructure, and thwart the organization’s attempts to rebuild its military strength.
The commander described the changes as part of the IDF’s operational deployment following the October 7 massacre and its continuing efforts to protect Israeli communities.
