Defense Minister Orders High Alert in Gaza Ahead of October 7 Anniversary

Jerusalem, 6 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — TEL AVIV — Israel’s Defense Minister Israel Katz has instructed the Israel Defense Forces to heighten operational readiness across the Gaza Strip ahead of October 7, following intelligence indicating Hamas plans to attack Israeli troops.

Minister Katz directed military commanders to take decisive preventive measures against any potential threats. Israeli leadership warned that any aggression targeting troops would draw an unprecedented response against Hamas.

The directive follows a joint security assessment conducted earlier this week by the Prime Minister, Defense Minister, and Southern Command chief at the Kissufim border post. The IDF remains on peak alert across all sectors to preempt potential insurgent maneuvers and ensure force protection.
