Netanyahu Trial Resumes as Judges Urge Dropping Bribery Charge
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's corruption trial resumes with judges urging the dismissal of bribery charges, impacting negotiations before the October.
Jerusalem, 6 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s criminal trial at the Jerusalem District Court resumes today after the courts’ summer recess. Twenty hearings are scheduled before the October 27 elections.
Netanyahu faces criminal charges of bribery, fraud, and breach of trust in three corruption cases.
The judges have recommended dropping the bribery charge, weakening the prosecution’s position in any negotiations with Netanyahu.
They first made the recommendation in July 2023. Last June, after hearing testimony over 18 months and 98 court sessions, they repeated it.
Netanyahu finished his testimony about two months ago. Since then, the judges have said his testimony did not change their concerns about the bribery charge.
The trial is expected to continue Monday with testimony from MK Ze’ev Elkin, followed Tuesday and Wednesday by Deputy Commissioner Shimon Sharvit.
