The Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir, visited today (Tuesday) a large-scale command exercise of the Gaza Division, along with the Commander of the Southern Command, Maj. Gen. Yaniv Asur, the Chief Military Prosecutor, Maj. Gen. Itay Ofir, the Commander of the Gaza Division, Brig. Gen. Liron Bitito, the Head of the Operations Division, Brig. Gen. Barak Hiram, and additional commanders. The exercise was built on the conclusions and lessons learned from the events of October 7th, and simulated defense and attack scenarios to defeat the enemy.

During the visit, the Chief of Staff examined the forces’ readiness and their preparedness for emergency missions. Additionally, a focused situation assessment was held to examine the division’s readiness for war and the implementation of operational plans for various scenarios, with the participation of brigade commanders.

“The lessons of October 7th obligate us to ensure that such an event never happens again,” said the Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir. “We must always be prepared, understand that there are blind spots we do not identify, and prepare for every scenario. Our test is preparedness, fitness, and operational tempo. We must ensure that the orders and instructions are implemented down to the last outpost and force in the field, so that we do not allow the enemy to surprise us.”

“We are engaged in a continuous ‘pursuit battle’ against the terrorists and infiltrators who participated in the October 7th attack. I wish to express my appreciation to the Southern Command for their successful counter-terrorism operations. This is an operational and moral mission, and we will continue to act with determination to complete it.”

“In the past week, we have strengthened our defenses and reinforced our forces in all arenas, and we are at a high level of alertness and readiness. Our enemies have suffered very severe blows, but they continue to plan operations against us,” added the Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir. “We are operating in all combat sectors with a concept of forward defense and counter-terrorism. We do not wait for threats, but rather act proactively to remove them. Our goal is to enable the holding of democratic elections without external influence.”
