Jerusalem, 6 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — JERUSALEM — Israel’s Ministry of Economy and Industry conducted a comprehensive interministerial emergency exercise on Tuesday to simulate response operations following a major earthquake, officials announced.

Led by Economy Minister Nir Barkat and National Emergency Management Authority (NEMA) chief Brig. Gen. (res.) Yitzhak Bar, the drill brought together officials from key government ministries, emergency agencies, food manufacturers, and major retail chains. Exercises focused on maintaining operational continuity during severe infrastructure disruptions, including potential power and telecommunication blackouts.

Officials emphasized that priority protocols center on rapidly restoring industrial output, managing and replenishing national strategic food reserves, and guaranteeing continuous supply chain distribution to retail outlets across the country during large-scale natural disasters.
