Jerusalem, 5 November, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Fire and Rescue teams from the Haifa station collaborated with the Port of Haifa emergency crew to conduct a complex emergency exercise aboard an active MSC container vessel.

The drill simulated a severe fire in the ship’s engine room, forcing first responders to navigate restricted maritime spaces, locate and extract casualties, and deploy a synchronized operational strategy.

Officials noted that operating aboard a large container ship presents unique tactical challenges, requiring specialized familiarity with vessel architecture, emergency access points, and strict movement constraints.

Port authorities emphasized that such operational drills are critical to maintaining peak safety readiness, protecting human lives, and ensuring uninterrupted maritime commerce during potential emergencies.

The joint exercise concluded successfully, validating rapid-response protocols between port personnel and municipal emergency services.
