Jerusalem, 12 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — An Israeli delegation is in Vietnam to negotiate an agreement bringing Vietnamese workers to Israel, particularly for the construction industry, the Population and Immigration Authority announced Monday.
Authority Director General Boaz Yosef met with Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Vu Chien Thang to discuss cooperation on foreign labor recruitment. The delegation aims to finalize a framework agreement and an implementation protocol for construction workers, with additional sectors to be considered later.
Israel’s construction industry has faced a severe labor shortage since Hamas’s October 7, 2023, attack, after Palestinian workers, who previously made up about 30% of the workforce, were largely barred from entering Israel.
