Jerusalem, 15 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu toured a major barrier under construction along Israel’s eastern border with Jordan on Thursday, saying the initiative will provide “maximum protection so that we can defend Israel’s citizens and not allow anyone to even think about invading Israel.”

The project involves extensive engineering and logistics work, including soldiers and reservists, Netanyahu said near Kibbutz Masada in the Jordan Valley. He added that counter-drone plans were part of the effort.

“All this force comes to tell Israel’s enemies: Don’t test us,” said Netanyahu, who was accompanied by Defense Minister Israel Katz.

The barrier project will span roughly 500 kilometers, from the southern Golan Heights to the Samar Sands north of Eilat. The NIS 5.5 billion ($1.8 billion) project will include multiple layers of fences, radar and camera systems, and advanced technological capabilities.
