Jerusalem, 1 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The send-off ceremony for Israel’s sixth submarine, INS Drakon, was held this week at the TKMS shipyard in Kiel, Germany, marking the conclusion of the joint planning and construction phase between Israel and Germany and the beginning of the submarine’s voyage to Israel.

The ceremony was attended by Israeli Navy Commander in Chief VAdm. Eyal Harel; RAdm. Amir Chimney, head of the Navy’s Technology, Logistics and Material Command; Defense Ministry Deputy Director-General Zeev Landau; Israeli Ambassador to Germany Ron Prosor; German Navy Chief VAdm. Jan Christian Kaack; and representatives from the Israeli Navy, Defense Ministry, and the German shipyard.

INS Drakon is the third and final submarine in the Dolphin-class AIP series purchased for the Israeli Navy, incorporating advanced technologies expected to enhance the navy’s operational flexibility for years to come.
