Weapons Smuggling Thwarted Near Adam Bridge Jordan River Crossing
Police and IDF forces thwarted a weapons smuggling attempt near the Adam Bridge, arresting two Jericho residents and seizing ten handguns.
Jerusalem, 25 August, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Police detectives from the Judea and Samaria District, alongside IDF (Israel Defense Forces) troops from thwarted an attempt to smuggle ten firearms into Israeli territory overnight.
Security forces identified suspicious activity indicating smuggling in the border sector Sunday evening, prompting the dispatch of police and IDF forces to the area. The forces set up ambushes, posted lookouts, and conducted searches that led to the arrest of two suspects in their 20s, residents of Jericho, near the Adam Bridge.
During field interrogation, officers located a bag hidden by the suspects containing ten handguns smuggled across the eastern border. The suspects were transferred for interrogation to the Central Unit of the Judea and Samaria District.
