As part of the investigation, an 18-year-old suspect from Umm al-Fahm was arrested. The investigation revealed that the suspect swore allegiance to the terrorist organization “Islamic State” (ISIS) and, over the past year, planned to carry out an attack against IDF soldiers in the Old City area of Jerusalem. Upon his arrest, detectives from the Coastal District Special Investigations Unit searched his home, during which findings and digital materials were seized that strengthen the suspicions regarding his support for the terrorist organization and his involvement in planning the attack. Today, with the conclusion of the investigation, a statement of intent to indict was filed against the suspect, in preparation for the filing of an indictment against him.
