Police Review Complaint Against IDF Chief Over Wifes Appointment at Major Army Supplier
Police are reviewing a complaint against IDF Chief Eyal Zamir and his wife, Orna, over her appointment at a major IDF food supplier.
Jerusalem, 9 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — An unusual complaint was filed against IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir and his wife, Orna, accusing them of possible fraud, breach of trust, bribery, improper benefits, and a serious conflict of interest.
Police opened an initial review, but approval from Intelligence and Investigations Branch Chief Cmdr. Yigal Ezra is required before a formal criminal investigation can begin.
The complaint centers on Orna Zamir’s recent appointment as a director at Tomer Import and Marketing of Food Products Ltd., whose largest customer is the IDF. The company has also faced accounting irregularities involving inventory, leading to a suspension of trading in its shares.
The complaint’s author, Michael Carmiel of “Torat Lechima” (Combat Doctrine), points to Zamir’s previous role as Defense Ministry director general, which oversees military procurement. He alleges the appointment raises concerns about a “revolving door” and possible retroactive payments for past contracts.
